About the Masters Basketball Association
The Nation's Most Highly-Acclaimed Masters Basketball Tournament
The MBA National Senior Championships is a five-day tournament of highly competitive full-court basketball. Representing a 28-year history, the 2012 tournament will be the 12th played in the Coral Springs gymnasium and the fourth under the supervision of the MBA.
You may enter a team in one of seven age divisions ranging from 40+ to 70+ and you will be playing against the "best of the best" in your age division, including a number of former professional players.
Your team is guaranteed to play four games and will play a fifth if you make either the Championship or Third Place finals on Saturday.
The current MBA management team has a national reputation for operating tournament's at the highest levels of quality for over fifteen years.
A Message from Kevin McNamara -- Founder and Chairman of the MBA
I formed the Masters Basketball Association (MBA) in 2009 as a response to an overwhelming demand from long time Team Organizers to continue to have a Masters Basketball Tournament in South Florida.
I am very happy to report that the 2011 National Senior Championships, the third under the supervision of the MBA, was another very successful tournament and the Board and Staff are working hard to prepare for the 2012 tournament.
We continue to believe that Team Organizers have confidence in our ability to deliver a tournament of exceptional quality. Our mission as your Board is to deliver a "World-Class" event as we believe your time and your investment in the tournament demands nothing less.
I am also pleased to announce two significant appointments to the MBA Board of Directors. Arthur Harreld and George W. Tinsley, Sr., were elected to the Board at our annual meeting this past August. Both Arthur and George are highly successful businessmen and have participated in the tournament as players and Team Organizers. Both will be instrumental in helping the board to take our event to new and greater levels.
Dave Hulett's contract as COO and Tournament Director has been extended for the 2012 tournament. Dave and his operations staff continue to do an outstanding job.
As our friend, former NBA standout Jim Barnett likes to say, "Tournament week is the best week of the year." You have my personal assurance that the Board and Staff will continue to work hard to make certain that we can live up to such high praise.
