Welcome Banquet
A long standing tradition to kick off tournament week, the banquet evening is one filled with renewing old friendships, good times fun and door prizes. In recent years years we have had a number of excellent keynote speakers to inspire us to have a great week of basketball.
George W Tinsley, Sr, a highly successful businessman and past president of the Retired Professional Players Association spoke on a theme of "Anticipate, Adjust and Hustle" at the 2011 banquet.
Others of note have been Wali Jones, point guard of the 1967 NBA champion Philadelphia 76ers, Bobby Plump of Milan, Indiana, whose story was the basis for the movie "Hoosiers" , Bill Alexson, former Chaplin of the Boston Celtics and long time tournament participant and twelve year NBA veteran Jim Barnett.
The Banquet is held at our Host Hotel, the LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Coral Springs. The date is Monday May 7 at 7pm. Dress is casual. A buffet style dinner is served. There is a $5 donation for each guest.
The speaker for the2012 tournament will be announced after the first of the year.
